Abstract
Choosing transportation media by sea is a solution because shipping or distribution costs are much cheaper and the goods transported are much safer. Carrying out this task, shipping companies have the responsibility to carrying cargo from the port of origin to the port of destination safely and safely damage occurs. Based on the explanation above, the author decides to carry out more in-depth observations on the "Standard Operational Procedures for Loading and Unloading Vehicles for Dharma Lautan Utama Balikpapan Branch." The problems revealed were regarding the handling process and manufacturer operational standards procedure (SOP), documents required, as well as obstacles and anticipations made when loading and unloading vehicles. Through data collection methods using interviews, observation, documentation and library research that have been carried out, an accurate discussion of the problem can be drawn. The loading and unloading handling process n Branch starts from checking tickets for vehicle owners, checking such as KTP, STNK, and vehicle manifest, placing crew during the loading and unloading process, carrying out loading activities from the dock into the ship's card deck and unloading vehicles from the ship's card deck down to the dock. The documents required to support the vehicle loading and unloading process are the vehicle manifest provided by the vehicle owner and company branch will issue stowage plan documents, loading records, tally sheets, daily operational reports (LHO). The obstacles that arise are the occurrence of obstacles in the process of loading vehicles such as vehicle delays, vehicles whose engines are no longer strong enough to climb the ramdoor at high tide.
