Abstract
Bunkering is a crucial process in maritime operations as it involves technical aspects, work safety, and the efficiency of ship operation. KM Kelud, a passenger vessel operated by PT. Pelni Tanjung Priok Branch, routinely conducts bunkering activities that must comply with standard procedures. This scientific paper aims to describe the stages of bunkering on KM Kelud, identify the parties involved, the equipment and documents used, as well as the challenges encountered during the process. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method based on field observations and informal discussions conducted during the internship at PT. Pelni Tanjung Priok Branch. Data collection was carried out through direct observation of bunkering activities and literature review from books, journals, and maritime regulations. The results show that the bunkering procedure on KM Kelud is carried out in several key stages, namely initial preparation, coordination, fuel transfer, final inspection, and documentation. The process involves ship crew, bunker barge operators, Pelni supervisors, and port authorities. The equipment used includes fuel pipes, drip trays, fire extinguishers (APAR), spill kits, and communication devices. Challenges such as bad weather and lack of coordination can be managed through emergency protocols and additional briefings. It is concluded that the bunkering process on KM Kelud has been implemented in accordance with safety procedures but still requires regular evaluation to improve efficiency and inter-party coordination.
