Abstract
Intercooler has several types of problems or troubleshooting such as reduced air entering the combustion chamber, increased air temperature, and many more. The purpose of this writing is to find out the Intercooler maintenance procedure to prevent damage and improve Intercooler performance. The writing method used is observation, interview, literature, namely observing and asking directly about the maintenance procedure to prevent damage to the intercooler. The results obtained from this writing indicate that the factors that cause damage to the Intercooler are: dirty turbocharge filters, dirty compression side blades, clogged air conditioning grilles, clogged water side cooling pipes/filters, leaking cooling pipes and leaking packing. Therefore, to prevent this, carry out proper maintenance such as: incidental maintenance to planned maintenance, preventive maintenance to repair maintenance, periodic maintenance to condition monitoring. This maintenance is carried out as a form of preventing damage that causes the intercooler not to work optimally. Keywords: main engine, damage, intercooler
