Abstract
Situations in vessel operations often involve various risks, especially when dealing with emergencies Life Saving Appliances are safety equipment that functions to protect ship crew and passengers in critical situations. This research uses a qualitative methodology with a descriptive approach to analyze the importance of Life Saving Appliances at KSOP Class II Tanjung Pinang Data was obtained through observation, interviews and literature studies based on maritime safety regulations such as SOLAS and International Maritime Organization (IMO) standards. The research results show that routine maintenance and inspection of Life Saving Appliances, such as life jackets, lifeboats and lifebuoys, plays an essential role to ensure the reliability of their function In addition to improving safety, proper maintenance also ensures compliance with applicable regulations. The crew's awareness and skills in using and maintaining the Life Saving Appliances are the main factors in their effectiveness Efforts to improve Life Saving Appliances maintenance should be carried out consistently through the implementation of rigorous maintenance standards and ongoing supervision. In addition, routine training for ship crew needs to be improved to guarantee preparedness and competence to face an emergency, therefore minimizing the risk of accidents and casualties at sea.
