Abstract
Indonesia, as the largest archipelagic country in the world, has a marine area of 5.9 million km², which holds significant economic potential but also presents substantial challenges in maritime safety. Data from BASARNAS indicates 854 maritime accident cases in 2022, with 1,256 victims requiring assistance. SAR teams state that there are several factors causing accidents in the waters, including weather conditions, sea/river currents, waves, and natural events such as floods. Therefore, immediate assistance is necessary when victims are spotted in marine areas. The purpose of this observation is to identify the tools used during rescue operations in marine areas, understand the techniques employed during rescues, learn the procedures for transporting victims in marine areas, and understand the medical handling after victims are brought to safety. The method used for data collection is descriptive qualitative, involving observation, interviews, and documentation. The results indicate that BASARNAS Semarang has the tools necessary for effective and efficient rescue operations, which are well-maintained. The rescue techniques employed by BASARNAS Semarang during operations are effective, and the methods or stages in assisting victims in marine areas, as well as medical assistance/first aid actions when victims are successfully brought to the surface or land, are also outlined. Keywords: Accident, Handling, Rescue, Victim, BASARNAS
