Abstract

Idle time is one of the key indicators of operational efficiency at ports, influenced by various internal and external factors. This study aims to determine the effect of port services (X1), loading and unloading speed (X2), human error (X3), and technical obstacles (X4) on idle time (Y) at PT. Berlian Jasa Terminal Indonesia Surabaya. Port services are measured through document services, pilotage services, and ship services. Loading and unloading speed includes the number of work gangs, working hours, and work safety. Human error is assessed through indicators such as waiting for operators, waiting for labor, and work delays, while technical obstacles are measured by indicators such as waiting for warehouse space, equipment damage, and vessel damage. The population in this study consists of operational employees at PT. Berlian Jasa Terminal Indonesia Surabaya. The sample used includes 87 respondents selected using a probability sampling technique with a simple random sampling approach. Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression assisted by the Statistical Package for the Social Science (SPSS) version 27. Based on the results of the study, the regression equation obtained is: Y = 0.671 - 0.222X1 - 0.204)X2 + 0.330X3 + 0.285X4 + μ From the equation, it is known that the most dominant variable affecting idle time is human error (X3), with the highest coefficient value of 0.330. The adjusted R square value of 0.615 indicates that the four independent variables contribute 61.5% to the variation in idle time, while the remaining 38.5% is influenced by other factors not examined in this study. Partial test results show that port services (X1) and loading and unloading speed (X2) have a negative and significant effect on idle time, while human error (X3) and technical obstacles (X4) have a positive and significant effect on idle time. Keywords : Port Services, Loading and Unloading Speed, Human Error, Technica Obstacles, Idle Time.
