Abstract
Navigation safety is a crucial aspect in supporting the smoothness of sea transportation and protection of life and goods. The Harbormaster and Port Authority Office (KSOP) Class IV Kalianget has an important role in ensuring navigation safety in the Kalianget Port area. This paper aims to determine the duties of the Harbormaster and Port Authority Office Class IV Kalianget in ensuring Navigation Safety, to determine what factors must be considered by ships operating in Kalianget Port, to determine how the Harbormaster and Port Authority Office Class IV Kalianget implement navigation safety in the Port, and what obstacles are encountered in the process. The method used is descriptive qualitative with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation studies. The observations show that the Harbormaster and Port Authority Office Class IV Kalianget is responsible for na vigation safety in Kalianget Port through ship supervision and implementation of regulations. Ships must pay attention to maneuver factors and obtain a Sailing Approval Letter (SPB). However, this office faces obstacles such as lack of human resources and low professionalism of examiners, which need to be addressed to improve the effectiveness of safety supervision.
