Abstract

Indonesia, which consists of thousands of islands, reaching 13,446 islands, is known as a maritime country because the area of the ocean is larger than the land, around 2/3 of the total area of the country of Indonesia. Sea transportation as part of the National transportation system needs to unite the entire territory of Indonesia. Safety is a safe state, in a condition that is safe physically, socially, spiritually, financially, politically, emotionally, work-wise, psychologically, or educationally and free from threats to these factors. In a shipping activity, safety is a very important factor and is always maintained in order to create zero accidents. The purpose of this study was to analyze the influence between the independent variables, namely Safety Training, Ship Maintenance, Compliance with Procedures and Ship Seaworthiness for the dependent variable, namely Ship Safety. The population in this study was 55 people consisting of the crew of PT. Jemla Ferry, Ketapang branch who have a classification of knowledge about shipping safety and the sample in this study was 55 respondents with the technique used being a non-probability sampling technique where the number of samples is the same as the number of populations. Non-probability sample is the entire available population is sampled as many as 55 people taken from the crew at PT. Jemla Ferry Ketapang Branch. Data collection was carried out through the Observation method, Literature Study, Interview, Documentation and Questionnaire using multiple linear regression analysis with the help of (Software) Statistic Package For Social Science (SPSS). The results of this study with the t-test hypothesis testing indicate that the variables of Safety Training, Ship Maintenance, Compliance with Ship Procedures and Ship Seaworthiness have a positive and significant effect on Ship Safety at PT. Jemla Ferry Ketapang branch. Based on the results of the study, it can be seen that the research model of the multiple linear regression equation is Y = -2.483 + 0.284X1 + 0.245X2 + 0.416X3 + 0.248X4 + µ. From the results of the regression, it can be seen that the most dominant variable influencing Ship Safety is the Safety Training variable with a regression coefficient of 0.248. With an r square test of 0.658 or 65.8%, which means that the increase in ship safety at PT. Jemla Ferry, Ketapang branch is influenced by Safety Training, Ship Maintenance, Compliance with Ship Procedures and Ship Seaworthiness, which is 65.8% and other factors that influence the increase in ship safety at PT. Jemla Ferry, Ketapang Branch are 34.2%. Keywords: Safety training, Ship Maintenance, Compliance with Ship Procedures, Ship Seaworthiness, Ship safety
