Abstract

Loading and unloading activities play a crucial role in supporting the distribution of goods in the maritime sector. This study discusses the handling methods for unloading magnesium oxide pellet (Jumbo Bag) cargo from the MV. Hono Smile by PT. Merak Jaya Asri at PT Krakatau International Port Banten. The research methods used include direct observation, interviews, and literature studies. The findings indicate that the unloading process employs a combination of manual handling and mechanization, utilizing tools such as spreader beams, wire rope slings, and forklifts. The main challenges in this activity include weather conditions, equipment limitations, and administrative obstacles in cargo documentation processing. Solutions implemented to address these challenges include thorough planning, enhanced coordination among relevant agencies, and optimization of unloading equipment usage. This study is expected to serve as a reference for improving efficiency and safety in port cargo handling operations.
