Abstract
In the world of shipping, there are various kinds of dangers that can threaten the lives of crew members. . The danger caused by the results of statistical analysis of accidents that occur on ships is mainly caused by human factors such as collisions, fires, leaks, sinkings, and running aground. Apart from human factors, other dangers are caused by natural factors such as storms and the geographical structure of the sea that can pose a navigation hazard. To overcome these dangers, SOLAS amendment 2009 chapter 3 (Life Saving Appliences and Arragements) Safety equipment that must be on board the ship such as liferafts, lifeboats, lifejackets, lifebouys, immersion suits, and other safety equipment. Lack of crew skills in the maintenance and operation of the liferaft which is a factor causing work accidents, there are obstacles that arise during the maintenance of the liferaft so that crew skills are needed, in the efforts made to make the liferaft work optimally, namely by inspecting the parts of the liferaft periodically to ensure problems that occur when the liferaft will be used. Therefore, it is necessary to be directed by officers so that the crew carries out their duties and responsibilities so that in the event of an emergency, the work carried out will be more directed and from time to time it needs to be fostered so that they have good expertise, abilities and skills.
