Abstract
This study examines the importance of ship pilotage services at Indonesia Maspion Port, particularly in the berthing and unberthing processes, which play a crucial role in ensuring safety and smooth port operations. Using a qualitative method, this research explores factors affecting the effectiveness of pilotage services, including procedures, challenges, and improvement efforts. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with relevant stakeholders, analysis of procedural documents, and direct field observations. The findings of this study are expected to provide recommendations for port authorities to enhance the quality of pilotage services through more structured and efficient procedures. Additionally, this research highlights the importance of a strong maritime infrastructure in supporting economic growth, particularly in East Java, and improving the competitiveness of ports at the national level. With a comprehensive approach, this study contributes significantly to the maritime industry by enhancing port safety and productivity. Keywords: pilotage services, improve, ship pilotage process
