Abstract
Indonesia as an archipelagic country has a vast sea area and an important role for sea transportation in supporting the economy and inter-island connectivity. Ship safety is a major aspect that must be considered, including in the ship docking process which involves a thorough inspection by the Marine Inspector. This study aims to determine the responsibilities of the Marine Inspector at KSOP Class IV Tegal in inspecting ships entering docking, identifying obstacles faced, and the solutions applied. The research method uses a qualitative approach through interviews, observations, and documentation. Data were collected during Land Practice activities at KSOP Class IV Tegal. The results of the study indicate that KSOP Class IV Tegal has implemented ship safety supervision standards well, although there are obstacles such as limited time, access to certain areas, and weather conditions. However, these obstacles can be overcome through solid teamwork and increased employee competence. In conclusion, the supervision carried out by the Marine Inspector of KSOP Class IV Tegal plays an important role in ensuring the seaworthiness of ships. Optimal procedures and understanding of safety regulations are the main keys to minimizing the risk of maritime accidents. This study is expected to contribute to the development of better maritime supervision in the future. A ship is a sea transportation device that floats and is used in sea areas, using engines or without engines as a means of propulsion. Ships are used to transport passengers and goods in sea areas.
