Abstract
This paper aims to explain the procedures for utilizing fire extinguishing equipment on the KN. SAR Permadi 249 vessel operating from Tanjung Perak Port, Surabaya. Fires onboard pose a serious threats, requiring prompt and accurate handling to minimize damage and casualties. Therefore, it is essential to comprehend the procedures for employing available fire extinguishing equipment, including portable fire extinguishers (APAR), automatic fire suppression systems, and other firefighting appliances.This research identifies critical steps in fire emergency situations and training and maintenance procedures for fire extinguishing equipment to ensure optimal functionality when required. The findings emphasize the importance of understanding fire extinguisher utilization procedures and conducting regular crew training to enhance firefighting preparedness and effectiveness onboard the KN. SAR Permadi 249.The results of this study indicate that a good understanding of fire extinguisher utilization procedures, as well as routine training for ship crews, is crucial for improving firefighting preparedness and effectiveness on the KN.
