Abstract
In writing this Essay, writer find problems frequently encountered by the ship owner which means maintenance of the ship that can ship operations continue to run smoothly, with the aim to save costs and save time. In this case relates to the costs incurred to perform maintenance work vessels. One of them is the care of rust on the metal construction of ships, particularly steel metal which is the largest part of which is used in construction of the ship. Then the first author should know the factors that cause the occurrence of rust in KN. Masalembo namely: The influence of the environment or natural surroundings such as moist air, salt water and high temperatures, the condition of the equipment is not feasible because it is caused by the way that improper maintenance of equipment. Thus, resulting in the implementation of the rust prevention cannot be implemented optimally. So that cadets can explain how to tackle and prevent rust in KN. Masalembo namely: Release of rust by means pengetokan in areas affected by rust, cleaning debris and residual rust, paint in areas that have been cleaned diketok and debris and residual rust, installation kathode protection using zinc anode.
