Abstract
This research was conducted on the KM Ship. Mutiara Berkah I at Tanjung Emas Port Semarang. This study aims to determine the optimization and how to use safety equipment and fire extinguishers. The type of research used in this study is a quantitative and qualitative approach. Data collection techniques with observation and interviews. The results showed that safety equipment and fire extinguishers must be in accordance with the conditions and needs of the ship. The role of the ship crew is very important in socializing safety equipment to passengers. The obstacles faced by ship crews in socializing safety equipment are language and cultural differences, lack of awareness, lack of safety equipment, extreme weather and demands for time and workload.
