Abstract
Security and safety in navigation are important things in navigation, therefore it is necessary to have adequate facilities to support shipping security and safety. In order to anticipate accidents and traffic congestion in the Semarang waters, the Ministry of Maritime Transportation has an implementing unit, namely the Semarang Navigation District Office, which has the main task of carrying out operational planning, procurement and supervision of Shipping Navigation Aids (SBNP). SBNP is very necessary in water areas to support security and safety, therefore optimal maintenance of SBNP is needed to provide adequate supporting facilities and minimize risks that occur in Semarang water areas. The purpose of this observation is to find out the efforts made by the Semarang Navigation District in optimizing SBNP maintenance, to find out the obstacles faced by the Semarang Navigation District in optimizing SBNP maintenance, and the risks that will occur if SBNP is not treated. The method that the author used in this observation was field observation and interviews with the Semarang Navigation District. The results of this observation are the efforts made by the Semarang Navigation District in optimizing SBNP maintenance in accordance with predetermined standards, the obstacles experienced by the Semarang Navigation District as well as the solutions made in optimizing the maintenance of SBNP which experienced problems, obstacles which were not handled properly. either can affect SBNP treatment resulting in high risk. Therefore, the Semarang Navigation District is making efforts by holding training for SBNP officers and approaching fishermen and local residents by holding seminars on the importance of SBNP in maritime areas.
