Abstract
Safety equipment is a safety standard that must be met by a ship, to ensure the safety of the crew and the prevention of casualties in the event of disasters and accidents on board. In shipping ship safety equipment and its maintenance has been regulated in SOLAS chapter III, this regulation is made in order to avoid obstacles or problems that occur when operating ship safety equipment and safety equipment can be used during emergency situations, the purpose of this writing is to find out the safety equipment on board the ship and how to maintain it as well as obstacles that often occur during the operation and maintenance of safety equipment ship. The data collection techniques used are interviews, observations, documentation so that they can be analyzed and conclusions drawn. The results of observations made on ships KM.
