Abstract
Fire drill is a training that must be carried out on ships according to the rules contained in the book Safety Of Life At Sea (SOLAS)Chapter III Regulation 9.3.4, and wvery ship crew must have knowledge and skills in operating fire exitinguishers according to the rules of standard Of Training Certification And Wachkeeping For Seafarer (SCTW table A -VI / 1-2. The purpose of this study is to find out how the knowledge and skills of the ship crew, besides that this study also aims to find out the training system that sh ould be applied as an increase in the knowledge and skills of the ship crew in relation to the procedure for using fire extinguishers at KN SAR PERMADI 249. This research uses qualitative descriptive method, data collection is carried out by interviews, observation, documentation, and literature study. The results showed that the main causes of the failure of the fire drill implementation at KN SAR PERMADI 249 were the lack of knowledge of the ship crew on the procedures for using fire extinguishers, lack o f discipline and low awareness of the danger that could be caused. The effort applied to improve the knoelodge and skiils of the ships crew relation to fire extinguishers at KN SAR PERMADI 249 are to carry out regular fire drills at least I time a month ac cording to the rules contained in the Safety Of Life At sea book, safety movie, familiariarization of modern tools and solas training, must be optimized by the ship crew.
