Abstract
In every activity, the crew has duties and responsibilities in the process of controlling and operating the ship in accordance with their position on board while the ship is sailing at sea. Therefore, the development of competence and expertise of the crew who are part of the Human Resources (HR) is one of the factors in the success of shipping companies in the maritime industry sector. One of the activities to support the maritime sector is the replacement of the ship's crew. crew change is the process, method, act of replacing people who work or are employed on the ship to carry out their duties optimally on the ship in accordance with the sea work agreement that has been established with the ship owner / or operator. In this study the authors used a qualitative method. The data collection is done by interview, observation, and documentation. Then the data is analyzed with existing theories and loading principles to find out the process of changing crew ships at PT Ship Management Indonesia and find out the obstacles in changing crew ships at PT Waypoint Port Service Indonesia so that companies can optimize crew change activities at PT Waypoint Port Service Indonesia by knowing the obstacles that exist in the process. The results obtained from this study are the process of crew change activities at PT Waypoint Port Service Indonesia is still not in accordance with the SOP that applies in the company such as crew recruitment that does not meet company standards. This is due to obstacles that occur in the crew change process such as sudden notification of crew needs and crew certificates that have not been validated. Keywords: Crew, Optimal, Ship Crew Change
