Abstract

The background of this paper is that there are many ships sailing in Kalianget Port without paying attention to safety and shipping security procedures in accordance with Ministerial Regulation No. 20 of 2015 concerning shipping safety standards, while the research objectives are to find out the implementation, obstacles to shipping safety standards at Kalianget Port and to know the responsibilities of the Port Authority and Class IV Kalianget Port Authority in handling and supervising the safety of Public Shipping. The method used by the author in this study is a method of interview, observation and documentation in the field. From the writing of this paper the authors get the results, that people's shipping is still a mode of logistics transportation that is very much needed by local residents, especially in the archipelago so that the role of the harbormaster is needed in terms of inspection. and safety procedures in order to create a safe mode of sea transportation. The conclusion of this study is that the implementation of safety standards and general procedures at Kalianget port has not been met, this is due to limited human resources, expensive safety equipment prices, and lack of porterman supervision.
