Abstract
Shipping companies are required to always provide satisfactory service to customers by operating their ships on time and arriving safely at their destination. In order to maintain the smooth operation of the ship, sufficient maintenance and spare parts are needed as well as human resources on board the ship who are skilled in maintaining and maintaining the performance of the ship's engines. Main Engine (Main Propulsion Engine) is an engine installation that consists of various supporting units/systems and functions to produce thrust for the ship, so that the ship can move forward or backward. The function of the cooler is very vital in maintaining the smooth operation of the main motor because it maintains the engine temperature so that it does not overheat. The author took up writing using qualitative and quantitative methods, while collecting data using documentation, interviews, literature study, observation and also documentation methods. The results of the conclusions of the problem formulation of the maintenance system problems on the main cooling engine on the negara SAR ship include maintenance of damage to the cooling engine, engine degradation, overheating, risk of engine stalling, fuel consumption and leaks in the ship's engine. The conclusion from the results of this paper is to always maintain and maintain the condition of the main engine and the coolant on the ship so that it does not get damaged quickly and it is recommended to always check and maintain and maintain the condition of the main engine using procedures determined by the company so that it can be used for a long period of time. long Keywords: Main Engine, System Cooling, Ship
