Abstract
Oil and gas wells are drilled like an inverted telescope. The part of the wellbore with the largest diameter is at the top of an oil or gas well. Each part is installed with a pipe-shaped wall (casing) up to the surface, or a liner is placed hanging on the last casing installed in the well. This study uses a descriptive and exploratory approach to understand the working mechanism and components of the sucker rod pump system used in the oil drilling industry in Kuwait. The descriptive approach provides a detailed description of the mechanism and performance, while the exploratory approach helps explore possible technical problems. From the results and discussions that have been presented, it can be concluded that the performance of the sucker rod pump is greatly influenced by the operational conditions of the field and the design and specifications of the pump used. Ahmadi Field showed the best performance with the Weatherford - High Pressure Rod Pump type, which is optimized for high pressure and high oil viscosity. In contrast, Burgan Field showed lower performance, indicating the need to adjust the pump design to actual field conditions. With the value of Rod Size (inch) 5/8 Area (inch)² 0.307, Weight (lb/ft) 1.16, Proactive maintenance strategy and regular component replacement are also key factors in maintaining optimal pump performance. Therefore, proper pump selection and effective maintenance strategy should be the main focus in oil drilling operations in Kuwait. While the data for calculating the volumetric efficiency of the sucker rod pump with daily production data, where daily production data is based on the productivity index. Keywords: Pump, oil, production and productivity.
