Abstract

Indonesia, as a maritime country with a larger sea area than land, has great potential in the field of shipping. PT. Salam Pasific Indonesia Lines (SPIL) Semarang plays an important role in domestic sea transportation, which is the main choice for inter-island cargo shipping in Indonesia. However, there are still several obstacles that need to be addressed to optimize the use of domestic cargo containers. This paper aims to analyze the marketing strategy of domestic containers, evaluate delivery times, and identify obstacles and solutions related to suboptimal supporting facilities. This research aims to discuss effective marketing strategies, evaluate the average delivery time of containers, and identify the causes of suboptimal supporting facilities at PT. SPIL. The goal of this research is to create and enhance the marketing activities of domestic cargo containers, thus maximizing domestic shipping activities. Additionally, this research is expected to provide benefits for scientific knowledge at AMNI Maritime University Semarang and PT. SPIL itself in creating new innovations related to optimizing the use of domestic cargo containers. The research method used is descriptive with a qualitative approach. Data collected through observation techniques, interviews, and literature studies are analyzed and interpreted to describe the conditions occurring at the research subject. Primary data is obtained directly from sources through observation and interviews, while secondary data is obtained from references and related official documents. The research results show that PT. SPIL is able to manage container shipments efficiently with an average delivery time of about 10 days from Tanjung Emas Port Semarang to Petikemas Port Balikpapan. However, there are still obstacles such as delays in updating container status in the Pelindo system and the need for more efficient container repairs. Recommendations provided include improving inter-departmental coordination, optimizing the use of information technology, and enhancing supporting facilities. With these measures, PT. SPIL is expected to improve the efficiency of logistics processes and container shipping services, thereby better meeting customer needs and contributing to the improvement of domestic shipping service quality in Indonesia.
