Abstract
The Pekalongan City Town Square experiences high traffic flow due to its central location, surrounded by shops, offices, hotels, shopping centers, schools, residential areas, and tourist attractions. The area also features numerous street food vendors using the sidewalk and on-street parking during peak hours, which leads to significant traffic congestion. To address this issue, proposals for the reorganizing road traffic in the town square area are necessary for improving road network performance. This study employed an analytical method to evaluate road network performance. The analysis required both primary data collected from field survey and secondary data obtained from relevant agencies. The road network performance was then assessed using the PTV Vissim and PTV Vissum modeling software, with results compared against current conditions and future traffic forecast over the next five years. The findings indicate that the proposed reorganization improves network performance. The implementation plan includes placing side barriers at sections and intersections to widen the effective road space. This is reflected in the changes existing road network performance from 2024 to 2024 after structuring, showing an average delay reduction from 26.93 seconds to 25.10 seconds, an increase in network speed value from 24.15 km/hour to 25.10 km/hour, an increase in total distance traveled from 3927.18 vehicle-km to 3935.66 vehicle-km, and a decrease in total travel time value from 162.62 vehicle-hours to 156.80 vehicle-hours.
