Abstract
One of the biggest sources of damage to marine ship plates is due to sea water corrosion. The hull plate is an area frequently exposed to sea water. Corrosion on the hull plate can result in a decrease in the strength and service life of the ship, reduce the speed of the ship and can interfere with the smooth operation of the ship. Therefore, efforts are needed to prevent corrosion thatoccurs on board. Late corrosion prevention and control will cause damage to the hull steel plate where the damage requires expensive maintenance costs,In writing this KTI, the author describes the theoretical basis of the notion of corrosion, types of corrosion and the impact of losses that can be caused to the ship and the ship company itself. The research was conducted for 4 months on the PT. Citra Bahari Shipyard. Primary data is carried out directly on the ship. Secondary data were obtained from direct interviews with officers and bosuns,The results of this study indicate that the prevention and control of corrosion in the PT. Citra Bahari Shipyard is still not maximally carried out regularly due to inadequate equipment on board. Keywords: Corrosion, Steel, Prevention, Hull.
