Abstract

Shipping plays a crucial role in the global economy, both as a means of transporting goods and people, but faces major challenges related to the risk of accidents and insecurity. Ditpolairud Semarang, as part of Polairud, is responsible for ensuring safety in water areas, where weather factors are a major threat to navigation safety. This research, conducted during Land Practices at Ditpolairud Semarang, focuses on the importance of developing a real-time weather monitoring system to improve the navigational safety of KN. IX 2009. Severe weather such as strong winds, high waves, fog, and heavy rain significantly affect the safety of shipping. To overcome this, Ditpolairud Semarang needs to implement a sophisticated weather monitoring system, including the use of weather sensors, weather radar, and data integration with BMKG. These technologies enable accurate and real-time weather monitoring, support better decision-making regarding shipping routes, and enable appropriate preventive action. In addition to technology, crew training and early warning systems are also important factors in improving shipping safety. The results show that the implementation of an integrated real-time weather monitoring system can effectively reduce the risk of accidents and improve the safety of ship operations in Semarang waters.
