Abstract

Cooling is a medium that serves to absorb heat. The heat is obtained from the combustion of fuel in the cylinder. The cooling system on the engine is made so that the engine can work at a specified temperature after the engine is started, and keep the engine running at the working temperature. This writing aims to determine the generator cooling system on the MT.Buana Mas Palmyndo Ship at PT Samugara Multi Karya Utama. The data collection methods used by the author include: documentation, observation, interviews (interviews), and literature study. The results of writing this scientific paper state that the cooling system used on the MT.Buana Mas Palmyndo ship is a closed cooling system type. The indirect cooling system uses two cooling media, namely fresh water and sea water. Fresh water is used to cool the motor parts, while sea water is used to cool fresh water. The problem that occurs in the generator cooling system at PT Samugara Multi Karya Utama on the MT.Buana Mas Palmyndo ship is the high temperature of the cooling system on the generator and the lack of maintenance of the generator cooling system so that it does not run normally. The conclusion of this scientific paper is that the generator cooling system at PT Samugara Multi Karya Utama on the MT.Buana Mas Palmyndo ship uses a closed cooling system. Problems that occur in the generator cooling system can be addressed properly. Keywords: Cooling System, Generator, Maintenance.
