Abstract

Fuel oil requires treatment before being passed to the engine. This will involve reservoirs and heaters to allow water separation, coarse and fine filtration as well as centrifuges to remove solid particles. Centrifugal separators are used to separate two liquids, for example oil and water, or liquids and solids such as oil containing impurities. Where a centrifuge is set to separate two liquids, it is known as a purifier. Separating dirt and water from fuel oil is essential for good combustion. Fuel Oil Purifier is an auxiliary device that functions to separate two liquids of different densities by using a rotary or centrifugal motion system. The fuel oil purifier is a separator for lubricating oil and water or dirt, so the lubricating oil that enters the main engine must be clean from a mixture of water or other impurities. Water and dirt cause the fuel oil purifier to not rotate optimally, so maintenance must be carried out according to the instruction manual book. Purifier cleaning is carried out using a rotary motion system (centrifugal), the centrifugal power is rotated several thousand times in a certain time so the power will be more than gravitational and static forces. To overcome the problem of maximizing the rotation of the fuel oil purifier, you must check the parts and components contained in the fuel oil purifier so that you can find out the cause of the fuel oil purifier not being able to produce maximum rotation. Researchers conducted research using data collection techniques and presenting data in a qualitative way. The results of applied scientific research work that were directly obtained by cadets during sea practice. The cause of not achieving maximum rotation on the fuel oil purifier was a lack of maintenance on the fuel oil which resulted in dirt that should have been able to be used.
