Abstract

In 1998, Indonesia was listed as the largest coal-producing country, one of which was South Kalimantan. The dumping of coal that occurs in the middle of the ocean or called ship to ship. In the process of loading coal in the public port of PT. First Trans Continental Batam, there are factors that cause the occurrence of inoptimal process of dumping the coal. So the author conducted this study which aims to know how the process of loading coal in the public port of PT. First Trans Continental Batam, to find out the causes of the occurrence of non-optimal loading process and to know the efforts made to overcome such inoptimality. This study uses qualitative descriptive methods by describing in detail the process of dumping coal loads in the public port of PT. Data collection is done with interviews, observations, library studies, documentation, and data validity. Based on the results of searches and discussions of problems concerning the process of decommissioning coal loads in the public port of the first transcontinental port of Batam. The failure to optimize the coal dumping process in the public port of PT. First Trans Continental Batam is caused by the faulty heavy equipment facility, the effort to minimize the problem is to repair and update the load dumping facility used so that the dumping activity can run optimally and there are obstacles.
