Abstract

The fresh water cooling jacket is one of the auxiliary machinery and important equipment on board the ship. The cooling jacket functions as a blanket for the cylinder liner which contains fresh water at a certain temperature which is used to absorb the heat produced by combustion in the cylinder. A multitubular type heat exchanger is used to remove heat from the coolant. Jacket cooling. One important part is the oring connecting jacket which functions as an adhesive between the cooling jacket and the cylinder head so that cooling water can circulate in cooling the main engine. To find out the factors that influence the Jacket Cooling Cylinder Liner leak on the Main Engine on the RSA MARINE 3 ship, to find out the impact that will occur on the Main Engine if there is a leak in the Jacket Cooling Cylinder Liner and to find out the actions taken to prevent leaks of the Jacket Cooling Cylinder Liner on the Main Engine on the RSA MARINE ship 3. The research approach used is descriptive qualitative through observational data collection techniques, interviews, and documentation. The cracking factor occurs due to lack of maintenance and the age of the cooling jacket material which has exceeded the working hours limit and also the temperature setting of the cooling jacket is unstable. The impact of a Jacket Cooling Cylinder Liner leak is hampered ship operations, blackout, main engine main bearing no. 2 cylinder no. 1 jumping and increasing ship operational costs. Actions taken to prevent Jacket Cooling Cylinder Liner leaks on the Main Engine on the RSA MARINE 3 ship are maintaining the quality of the cooling water, maintaining the stability of the cooling water temperature Keywords: Leak, Jacket Cooling, Cylinder Liner dan Main Engine
