Abstract

indonesia is the largest maritime country in the world which has 17,504 islands stretching from Sabang to Meraoke with a coastline of approximately 81,000 km and a sea area of around 5.9 million km². To ensure shipping safety and security, the Minister as Assistant to the President appoints port captains after fulfilling competency requirements in the field of maritime transport safety and security, as well as port captains. The important role of port facility managers in monitoring the seaworthiness of ships can be seen in the Indonesian Maritime Law concerning ship safety. The author uses a qualitative method, namely by conducting observations in the field.The results of law enforcement in the safety sector are actions taken to prevent violations or deviations from applicable regulations. The result of the practice of law enforcement is to take action against criminals who violate existing rules and regulations in accordance with the law and provide sanctions/fines. Law enforcement in the field of safety, namely ships passing through certain waters must comply with applicable law enforcement and must be fully certified. The practice of implementing law enforcement at KSOP TEGAL will take action against ships that violate existing legal regulations at sea and will impose fines on perpetrators of law violations at sea in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
