Abstract
In carrying out its duties, the Class 1 Tanjung Balai Karimun KSOP has a role to improve shippingsafety towards zero accidents and to carry out guard and patrol in order to improve shipping safety and Tanjung Balai Karimun port security. To carry out this role based on the Minister of Transportation Regulation No. 36 of 2012 concerning the Organization and Work Procedure of the Port Office and Port Authority, a Sailing Safety, Guard and Patrol section was formed where duties and responsibilities are divided into more detail, so that sea transportation users realize how important it is to comply with regulations to improve shipping safety and the importance of compliance with regulations. related to shipping safety and security in the port environment. The role of this study is to determine the functionof Class 1 Tanjung Balai Karimun KSOP in the field of shipping safety supervision in the Tanjung Balai Karimun Port area, to find out the steps of the sailing safety section, guarding and patrolling in the guard and patrol field in the Karimun Port work area to improve shipping safety in the Tanjung Balai Karimun Port area. Tanjung Balai Karimun Port, and to find out KSOP obstaclesin monitoring sailing safety in the Tanjung Balai Karimun Port area. In accordance with the data collection methods, both by observation, interviews and research libraries that the author collected, an accurate discussion of the problems regarding the role of the Class 1 Tanjung Balai Karimun KSOP in the field of sailing safety, guarding and patrols, namely the responsibility of the harbormaster is very important because shipping security and safety are already be his job. Actions taken to improve security and safety supervision of matters relating to shipping, so that cases of shipping accidents, crimes and irregularities of regulations in the port environment can be reduced orcan be overcome.
