Abstract
This paper was written to provide an overview of the role of the Harbor Master's Office of the Class I Authority and Port of Tanjung Balai Karimun in preventing pollution of the marine environment in Tanjung Balai Karimun. The main background included is the handling process if pollution occurs in the Tanjung Balai Karimun marine environment. The aim of this observation is to understand how important it is to prevent pollution of the marine environment, the parties involved, the procedures used in these activities, and the obstacles experienced. During carrying out land practice the author used several data collection methods. The methods used in collecting data are observation, interviews, documentation and libraries. From the problems that the author encountered when implementing Prada in the field, several data processing results were obtained, namely, the Harbor Master's Office has responsibilities if pollution occurs in the marine environment, such as gathering information, evaluating and identifying sources of pollution, emergency handling, notification to related parties, investigation and documentation, coordination of related parties, follow-up monitoring and evaluation, and restoration of the marine environment.
