Abstract
The process of transporting hazardous cargo containers requires different handling from ordinary containers because dangerous cargo containers will pose dangerous risks. Hazardous cargo requires more specialized handling compared to cargo in other containers due to its sensitive nature and potential hazards if mishandled. Hazardous loads require special handling compared to other loads because hazardous loads can pose a dangerous risk if handled inappropriately. Mishandling can result in accidents, damage, or even threats to human safety and the environment and Each dangerous goods packaging must bear certain markings and labels that meet the conditions Such as easily visible, legible, and placed on a contrasting colored background. In sea transportation, ship owners, ship operators, and agents of nat ional sea transportation companies are also required to give notice to the syahbandar before dangerous goods carriers arrive at the Port.Obstacles in handling dangerous cargo are the placement of dangerous cargo containers in the stacking field which are still combined with cargo container loads and actual conditions in the field are different which results in hampered loading and unloading activities. The way to overcome the problem is to separate the hazardous load container from the ordinary load contain er and carry out two planning stages, namely the long -term stage of the construction of a special stacking field for hazardous loads and the short -term stage is to group its own hazardous load containers that will be assigned a special zone to distinguish between hazardous load containers and regular load containers. Pihak PT. Semarang Container Terminal will emphasize the performance of the yard planner to be more active and careful in making yard plans for neat container arrangement so as not to cause idle time during loading and unloading activities. Keywords : load handling, dangerous goods, container.
