Abstract
Waste pollution into marine areas is a serious problem that requires effective monitoring and prevention. The Patimban Class II Harbormaster's Office and Port Authority, as the maritime authority in the region, has an important role in ensuring the sustainability of a healthy marine environment. The role of the Harbormaster's Office and Port Authority is very important in overcoming pollution in waters and ports, all actions are taken quickly, appropriate, integrated and coordinated to control, reduce and clean waste and rubbish or other materials into waters and ports to minimize losses to the community and environmental damage. This research aims to analyze strategies for monitoring and preventing waste pollution in marine areas under the jurisdiction of the Harbor Master's Office and Class II Patimban Port Authority. The research method used is policy analysis and case studies on the implementation of monitoring and prevention measures that have been taken. The results of the analysis show that the Harbor Master's Office and Class II Patimban Port Authority have adopted various strategies, including the use of advanced monitoring technology and cross-sectoral collaboration with related parties. However, challenges such as lack of resources and public awareness remain obstacles. Therefore, there needs to be continuous efforts to increase monitoring capacity and environmental awareness to maintain the sustainability of marine ecosystems in the region. Regulation of marine areas is important in the context of shipping, international trade, marine environmental conservation, and various activities related to oceans and waters. International organizations such as the International Maritime Organization (IMO) play an important role in establishing standards and regulations relating to shipping in international maritime areas. The definition of work area in law can vary depending on the legal context in question.
