Abstract

Maritime safety is a priority in the maritime world. Disturbances when a ship is sailing are often caused by natural factors, but it does not rule out the possibility that it could be caused by factors from the ship itself (engine failure). Any disturbance while the ship is sailing is an emergency because it will slow down the ship arriving on time. Preventing emergencies that have been determined in accordance with SOLAS and Standard Operasional Procedur (SOP) is very important. Even though rules and regulations have been established that must be implemented by ships with procedures and procedures for emergency drills, it has been proven that in reality there are still problems or lack of implementation of emergency drills on board ships. To discuss how safety drills on ships are implemented based on the SOLAS and Standard Operasional Procedur (SOP) ship provisions above with the aim that the implementation of these drills can be useful during actual incidents, so that the lives of the crew, the ship and the environment can be safe. However, in reality emergency drills are not implemented optimally. The research approach used is descriptive qualitative through data collection techniques of observation, interviews and documentation. The results of this research show that emergency drills do not run optimally because there are several factors, namely, the lack of regular emergency drills in accordance with SOLAS and Standard Operasional Procedur (SOP) on board the ship, the unavailability of spare safety equipment during emergency drills, the lack of discipline of the ship's crew when carrying out drills. emergency state.
