Abstract

The fire pump is a critical component in the ship's safety system to deal with potential fires at sea. This research discusses the design, implementation and maintenance of fire pump systems on ships. This system is designed taking into account the specific needs of marine vessels, including the size of the vessel, type of cargo, and the area to be protected. The operation of fire pumps on ships requires efficient integration between mechanical and electrical components. This system includes pumps, control devices, fire sensors and other supporting equipment. This research explores the latest technologies that can improve system reliability and performance, including smart fire sensors and automation systems that enable rapid response to fire threats. Routine maintenance and damage prevention are the main focus in maintaining optimal performance of fire pump systems. This study presents preventive and reactive maintenance methods, including periodic inspection schedules, functional testing, and routine maintenance on critical components. In addition, a proactive approach in detecting potential technical problems is also introduced, involving real-time condition monitoring and failure prediction systems. The results of this research are expected to contribute to an in- depth understanding of firefighting pump systems and maintenance on marine vessels. By implementing these best practices, ships can increase their level of safety and effectively protect their cargo, crew and marine environment from the threat of fire.
