Abstract

Fire is one of the risks that can occur anytime and anywhere in marine shipping activity. The fire cause financial losses that are quite large and can even take a lot of lives. Decree of the Minister of Manpower No. 186/KepMen/1999 concerning fire fighting units in the workplace, article 2 paragraphs 1 and 2 obliges administrators and employers to prevent, reduce and extinguish fires and are required to have a fire prevention unit with their respective duties and responsibilities. Based on this description, it is necessary to have a fire management system on board which includes fire protection facilities, fire extinguishing facilities and fire management on board. The variables of fire protection facilities, fire extinguishing facilities and fire management on board are used to determine the effect on the fire extinguishing system on the ship as a whole. The research method used is quantitative descriptive analysis using SPSS software. The number of samples used was 42 people calculated using the slovin formula. The results show that the fire protection system, fire fighting equipment and fire management variables partially have a positive and significant influence on the suitability of the fire extinguishing system with a contribution of 64.4%, while other factors outside this research variable have an effect of 35.6% .
