Abstract
This paper was written to get a better picture regarding the duties of the Surabaya Class I Navigation District in the role of navigation aids for the safety of Surabaya shipping lanes. The problem covered is the role of navigation aids in accordance with standards. The purpose of this observation is to determine the importance of navigation aids and navigation aids to support safety in the work flow of the Class I Tanjung Perak Navigation District, Surabaya, as well as the stages involved, the parties involved, the procedures used in navigation activities, what tools course used in activities to help with navigation, obstacles experienced. To collect the data used, the author used methods obtained through interviews, observations which involved directly seeing activities at the port, books, archives and other sources. From the results of this discussion, it can be concluded that the Tanjung Perak Surabaya Class I Navigation District operates in the field of navigation facilities, so that ships can enter and exit port channels safely and guide ships if an emergency occurs. Even though there are still several factors in the activity that become obstacles in implementation, we are trying our best to make the process run as smoothly as possible..
