Abstract

Docking plays a crucial role in fulfilling the requirements of seaworthiness for maritime activities. Additionally, docking activities are conducted to maintain the ship's class, which includes periodic survey activities. Docking workers are one of the aspects of work that require attention due to the high health and safety risks involved in the process. The Occupational Safety and Health Act No. 1 of 1970 stipulates that all workers must receive protection for their safety in carrying out their duties to enhance their productivity and well-being. This research aims to identify and analyze personal protective equipment, the role of personal protective equipment, and the barriers to using personal protective equipment on ships. The analytical method employed in this research is qualitative analysis using techniques such as interviews, field observations, and data collection through observation, interviews, and library research. The results of this research indicate that personal protective equipment, the role of personal protective equipment, and the barriers to using personal protective equipment significantly influence the prevention of workplace accidents on ships. With increased awareness and understanding of the risks associated with the docking process, it is hoped that all parties involved will be able to implement appropriate safety measures, including the use of suitable personal protective equipment (PPE). This will lead to a significant reduction in the number of accidents and worker injuries during the ship docking process. Keywords: Occupational, Work Safety, Docking, Maintenance
