Abstract
This paper departs from the phenomenon of the sinking of the KM LCT Cipta Harapan ship in Karimunjawa waters when the author carried out land practice. For this reason, in this scientific work, researchers directly review the implementation of safety procedures carried out on board the KN SAR SADEWA ship to find out directly the factors that affect accidents on board. The content of this paper was obtained by the author during Land Practice at the Semarang Basarnas Office and on the KN SAR SADEWA ship, namely knowing the factors that affect accidents at sea and efforts to improve safety on board the KN SAR SADEWA ship. Based on the above phenomenon, a problem formulation emerged, namely 1) How to implement safety procedures on board KN SAR SADEWA, 2) How factors affect accidents on board, 3) How efforts can be made to improve safety on board KN SAR SADEWA. This study uses descriptive qualitative methodology supported by three data collection techniques, namely observation, interviews and document studies. This study aims to investigate the implementation of safety procedures on board KN SAR SADEWA, analyze the factors that influence accidents on board, and evaluate efforts made to improve safety on board KN SAR SADEWA. The results showed that the implementation of safety procedures on board KN SAR SADEWA was quite good, with a high level of safety awareness among the crew. However, factors such as human error, adverse weather conditions and lack of ship maintenance and maintenance can affect the risk of accidents aboard the KN SAR SADEWA. Nonetheless, continuous evaluation and further improvement efforts are still needed to ensure optimal safety aboard the KN SAR SADEWA. This research contributes to the understanding of the factors affecting safety on board and the importance of efforts made to reduce the risk of accidents at sea. The practical implications of this study are the importance of implementing good safety procedures, regular maintenance and maintenance, and adequate training for crew in maintaining safety on board.
