Abstract

The propeller itself is a tool used to produce manoeuvres derived from engine power transmitted through the shaft. In other words, the Propeller functions to convert engine power into thrust according to the combination of RPM and speed. With the development of technology, many propeller system developments are made. One of them is Controllable Pitch Propeller, which is a propeller that has the ability to change the pitch angle on its propeller leaf. This writing aims to: Knowing the problem with the propeller. Knowing the initial cause of the problem in CPP. Among them is a leak in the O-ring. With propeller maintenance, making it more durable and long lasting. The method used is qualitative because the author makes direct observations on the spot including observation, interviews, documentary methods, and literature study methods. One of the treatments is to regularly check the propeller and hydraulic system. The result is a stable manoeuvre. Fuel consumption is more efficient. Cavitation, this occurs on the face of the propeller, it will be damaged in the form of small arches that can trigger a broken propeller. Fouling, which is dirt on the hull and propeller of the ship caused by plants and marine animals. The age factor of this type of damage usually does occur frequently due to the age of the components on the propeller that have exceeded the limit of working hours and have been used frequently, maintenance that is not in accordance with the manual book The effort that must be made is to check the scaled volume of fluid in the CPP tank. O-Ring replacement at CPP must prioritise SOPs and component quality, damage that occurs must be repaired immediately because if there is no possibility that the damage will expand, maintenance that is not in accordance with the manual book is also a factor that causes damage to the O-Ring.
