Abstract
This research was conducted on Jalan Raya Sidorejo, Pemalang Regency. This study uses traffic characteristics, side friction, vehicle growth, traffic congestion as the dependent variable. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of characteristics, side friction and vehicle growth on traffic jams on the Sidorejo highway, Pemalang district. The sample used in this research was users of the Sidorejo highway, Pemalang district, where the number of samples specified in this research was 100 respondents. The sampling technique in this study was incidental sampling. The method of analysis in this study was descriptive analysis and quantitative analysis, then the data were analyzed using multiple linear regression with the help of (Software) Statistical Package For Social Science (SPSS). The results of the hypothesis test showed that the variable traffic characteristics, side friction, vehicle growth had a positive and partially significant effect on traffic jams. Multiple linear regression results were obtained Y = -0.087+ 0.222X1 + 0.368X2 + 0.388X3 + µ From the equation it is known that the dominant variable affecting traffic congestion is the vehicle growth variable with a regression coefficient of 0.388. The R2 test (R square) was obtained at (67.9%), which means that traffic jams on the Sidorejo highway, Pemalang district are influenced by traffic characteristics, side barriers, vehicle growth, which is 67.9%. While the remaining (100% -67.9% = 32.1%) is influenced by other variables outside this study. Keywords: traffic characteristics, side friction, vehicle growth and traffic jams.
