Abstract

An intersection is a node in a transportation network where two or more roads meet and it is at this intersection that there is a potential for traffic conflicts that might occur. Especially at the Nakula Intersection, East Tegal District, where one of the efforts to reduce traffic conflicts by application APIIL and setting phases at the intersection. Intersections are given APIIL arrangement aimed at avoiding traffic conflicts and as an effort to maintain road capacity. The method used in the analysis of intersection performance used calculations according to MKJI 1997 and PTV VISSIM software. As for the analysis of traffic conflicts by direct observation and compared with the SSAM software to determine the number of conflicts that occur. The next step provided recommendations for handling traffic conflict problem by using PTV VISSIM software. Based on the results of the research, the recommended treatment applied APILL and set the cycle time for 3 phases and 4 phases, which will then be compared with the initial conditions. From the recommendations that have been made using PTV VISSIM software, recommendations with 3 phases can reduce conflicts by 33%, namely from 36 conflicts to 24 conflicts with LOS B, while recommendations with 4 phases can reduce conflicts by 47%, namely from 36 conflicts to 19 conflicts with LOS D, for that the most appropriate recommendation to reduce traffic conflicts used a 3 phase arrangement. The results of the 3 phase control simulation showed that it was effective in reducing the number of traffic conflicts and the level of service was still in good condition.
