Abstract

ABSTRACT Shipping lines is a port facility used by ships for movement to or from the port where the ship will or has finished loading and unloading activities. Prior to the existence of shipping lane security services at Pertamina's TUKS, the shipping lane was very dangerous because ships traveling in the shipping lane faced directly with fishermen and fishing nets. This is certainly a very big risk, especially for tankers that have various types of kargoes of fuel oil. If the ship's operations are hampered, of course there will be many losses for various parties. In accordance with existing procedures, every ship operating in the TUKS area of the shipping channel belonging to the Pertamina International Refinery, the Cilacap unit, needs to secure the channel if it will enter or leave the Pertamina International Refinery Area Shipping Channel. The purpose of writing this paper is to find out how important shipping lane security services are, find out the obstacles that exist during the shipping lane security process, and find out how the technical implementation of shipping lane security is to create a safe shipping lane for passing ships. Based on data collection carried out during internship, the author uses several descriptive qualitative research methods where the existing data is obtained from direct observations, interviews with related parties, and literature studies. The results of the discussion of this paper are about the causes of shipping lanes to be secured, the efforts made by the shipping channel manager to create safe shipping lanes for passing ships, and the obstacles experienced during the process of securing shipping lanes. Keywords: Security, Shipping Lines, and TUKS
