Abstract

Congestion is a condition where the flow of traffic passing on the road under review exceeds the planned capacity of the road which results in a queue. At the time of congestion, the value of the degree of saturation reaches more than 0.75. At present traffic jams are an event that we usually see both in the morning, during the day and in the evening. This problem occurs because there is an increase in the number of vehicles with unbalanced road growth so that in addition to causing congestion it can also cause traffic accidents. This problem is also an old problem that until now has not found the right solution. The purpose of this study was to analyze the influence of the independent variables, namely trip generation, side resistance, and traffic volume on the dependent variable, namely traffic congestion. In this study, the objects taken were people who had passed or experienced traffic jams on the Simpang 4 Mangli road section, Jember City. The sample in this study was 100 respondents and the technique used was a non-probability sampling technique, namely by using incidental sampling, which is a sampling technique by chance or anyone who coincidentally meets the researcher can be used as a sample. The research model is multiple linear regression analysis. Based on the results of research and multiple linear analysis of buying and selling: Y = 1.453 + 0.220X1 + 0.411X2 + 0.274X3 + µ The results of the multiple linear regression equation show that the trip generation factor has a positive and significant effect on traffic jams (tcount 2.537 < ttable 1.984) and side barriers have a positive effect on traffic jams (tcount 5.083> ttable 1.984), and traffic volume leading to traffic jams (tcount 3.787> ttable 1.984). The influence of the three research variables was obtained with a correlation value of Adjusted R2 = 0.455. This means that 45.5% of the variation in the dependent variable of traffic congestion can be explained by the third independent variable, namely trip generation, traffic volume and road capacity. While the remaining 55.5% is influenced by other variables outside of this study. Keywords: Side Barriers, Traffic Congestion, Trip Generation, Traffic Volume
