Abstract
ABSTRACT Fire pump is a pump used to extinguish fires when a fire occurs on a ship. Every ship must have a fire pump operated by an electric motor. This paper discusses the factors that cause damage to fire pumps which consist of corrosion, leaks caused by gland packing that is no longer suitable for use, worn bearings due to working too long, dirty seachest filters. And this paper discusses maintenance and operation of fire pumps. the methods that I use are primary and secondary methods that obtain data through interviews, literature studies, observations, and through internet sites. The results of the discussion of this paper are that it can avoid / minimize damage to the fire pump. After carrying out maintenance on the fire pump, the pump can work optimally.
