Abstract

ABSTRACT Indonesia, which consists of thousands of islands, reaching 13,446 islands, is known as a maritime country because the sea area is larger than the land area, about 2/3 of the total area of Indonesia. Sea transportation as part of the National transportation system needs to unite all regions of Indonesia. Accidents in sea transportation modes occur due to 3 (three) important factors, namely human error, technical factors and weather factors (natural). The purpose of this study was to analyze the influence of the independent variables, namely the Role of Syahbandar, Communication Skills and ISM Code, for the dependent variable, namely Shipping Safety. Communication Skills and ISM Code, for the dependent variable, namely Shipping SafetyThe population in this study were 130 people it consists of ship crew and PT. ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) Padang Bai branch which has a classification of knowledge about shipping safety and the sample in this study is 100 respondents with the technique used is non-probability sampling technique, namely by using kouta sampling. Kouta Sampling is a technique for determining a sample from a population that has certain characteristics to the desired number (kouta)The analytical method used was descriptive analysis and quantitative analysis, the data were analyzed using multiple linear regression analysis with the help of (Software) Statistical Package For Social Science (SPSS). The results of the research by testing the t-test hypothesis show that the variable Role of Syahbandar, Communication Ability, and ISM Code have a positive and significant effect on Shipping Safety at the Padang Bai Bali ferry port. Based on the results of the study it can be seen that the research model of the multiple linear regression equation is Y = 2.898+0.436X1+0.214X2+0.189X3+ u. From the results of the regression it can be seen that the most dominant variable influencing shipping safety is the Syahbandar Role variable with a regression coefficient of 0.436. With the r square test of 0.526 or 52.6%, which means that the increase in shipping safety at the Padang Bai crossing port is influenced by the Role of Syahbandar Communication Capability and ISM Code which is equal to 52.6% and other factors that affect the improvement of shipping safety at the Padang Bai crossing Port Bali by 47.4%.
