Abstract

Occupational safety and health are guidelines that are applied as an effort to avoid work accidents for the sake of shared safety. Work at the Port is always covered by various events that can threaten life, property and the environment. This is not just a mere statement or assumption that is considered trivial and trivial, but has clearly happened since the emergence of demolition activities taking place at the port. Accident prevention at a port is very important and is fatal in its treatment if it does not follow the rules set by the unloading company in order to facilitate unloading activities, especially coal unloading which takes place at the Tanjung Jati B Jepara special port. Unloading of coal requires a good management arrangement, especially for unloading workers in order to eliminate elements of violations using inappropriate personal protective equipment attributes which result in endangering the lives and bodies of workers at the port. The method used is descriptive with a qualitative approach, namely observation that explains the cause and effect of an event, as well as describes the entire process from the beginning of the event to the impact of the event. The author also takes pictures where the practice takes place to support the validity of the data in writing this paper. From the results of observations it can be seen that the factors that are of particular concern when carrying out coal unloading are the unloading equipment used and the human element itself. Thus, the company should tighten the elements of safety management and maintenance of the equipment which are applied as a whole in order to avoid an incident of work accident and equipment failure during demolition which affects the delay in the coal demolition target which will affect all aspects of each work.
