Abstract

Noise can be defined as sound or sound that can interfere with comfort and health and can cause deafness. Noise that occurs continuously with high intensity can unconsciously affect the health of the Ship's Crew (ABK) who are on duty on the ship. Health problems can occur because the crew members are required to be in the ship's engine room which can last very long according to the route of the ship's voyage. This study aims to find out and analyze the noise contained in the engine room and accommodation space on the crossing ship. The data analysis technique used in this study is noise measurement and measurement data analysis. The results showed that there were 7 rooms on the MV Leadership ship that did not meet the standards of the Indonesian Classification Bureau and MSC.337(91) including the engine control room, store room, passenger accommodation room (sound system on), crew 1 accommodation room, accommodation room ABK 7, ABK 8 accommodation room, and ABK 10 accommodation room. The highest source of noise generated in the engine room is generated by the auxiliary engine. Meanwhile, in the lounge room, passenger accommodation room and VIP room, the highest sound source is generated from the sound system. The sound system which is always turned on when the ship is operating is one of the sources of noise which makes the noise level in the passenger accommodation space not comply with the MSC.337(91) standard because the sound pressure is too high. The noise level in the passenger accommodation space can be overcome by reducing the sound pressure on the sound system. Keywords: Noise, Engine Room, Accommodation Space, Attenuation.
